Democracy Begins in Sebastian County
I am David Crowell and I am a candidate for Sebastian County Justice of the Peace for District 7.
I am David Crowell and I am a candidate for Sebastian County Justice of the Peace for District 7.
I am married to Jill, my lovely wife of 48 years. We have a son and a daughter and we do our best to keep up with a very busy grandson.
The Crowell family has been active in Scouting for over 20 years. I have been a Cubmaster, a Scoutmaster and currently a committee chair for 3 scout units. Always looking for ways to bring youth to experience the great outdoors, support our community through service, and help them to become our leaders of tomorrow.
Like you, I am tired of the vile and bitterness that comes from the extremists that overwhelm us from all directions. I believe our neighbors have more in common than what the media portrays. We want affordable housing, affordable healthcare where patient and provider make decisions without government interference, the ability to live our lives in safety and protect ourselves and our neighborhood.
I want to see my grandchildren grow up in a safe and prosperous world where they don’t have to be scared to go to school for any other reason than an upcoming test. I will make sure the citizens of Sebastian County continue to receive the services that they need while keeping the budget under control. Any surplus money received will be put towards beneficial needs for our community.
I will do my best to be your voice in our local government. I welcome your questions and comments. Please let me know if you wish to volunteer or support the Friends of David Crowell campaign.
Sebastian County is governed by a quorum court, and the members of the quorum court are called justices of the peace. They are chosen by the voters of their county in the general election in November of every even-numbered year.
The role of justice of the peace is similar to that of a county commissioner in other states. JPs are the legislative branch of county government and are responsible for assisting the County Judge in levying the county taxes and making appropriations for the county's expenses.
JP District 7 is located in West Central Fort Smith. Neighborhoods include those on Towson Ave. from South U to Zero Street, Jenny Lind from South T to Phoenix, Old Greenwood from South O to Phoenix, then Hendricks Blvd. from South P to Gary.
